Ready-to-Resuscitate

Unrecognisably transformed—think of a cow’s skin turned into a pair of pink boots— nonhuman animals in fashion are distorted and decontextualised. The subsequent erasure of traces of animals as beings with lives of their own, dismisses and renders them dead (a second time, let’s say). This work explores how to reverse that process – from garment to animal-like bodies – and ‘resuscitate’ the animal behind the garment. To bring them back into view. The first edition is about sheep.

Shown at UTS Gallery Sydney (“No place for mannequins: Remaking the fashion archive” curated by Ricarda Bigolin and Todd Robinson) 2026.
Supported by Amarte.
The garments used in these works are second hand, no new animal materials were sourced.
